Community Town
I can’t even explain my happiness. <3
i was in a thread on /tv/ the night that the Cougar Town finale aired, where people were trying to figure out which took place in the ‘real world’: Community or Cougar Town. it was eventually decided that Community is real, because Danny was obviously playing Abed in his cameo whereas Byrd and BP were just sort of there in the Community finale. it was theorized that perhaps Community in the Cougar Town universe was actually created by Abed based off of his Community College Chronicles series from season one. Abed wanted to stay in school with the study group so he sold it to NBC who got Dan Harmon to head it, and that is the show Cougar Town references, not the show we actually see.
pretty weird, but i thought it wrapped everything up rather neatly.
ON THE FLIP SIDE, i just watched both parts of the Community finale back to back and holy shit it holds up so well. i thought there would be a problem with the tonal shift from part one to part two, but it worked. part one gives you a lot of great laughs, sets the mood, and shows how high the stakes are getting. part two is really funny as well, but it also had a lot of genuinely intense, dramatic moments that really brought the whole thing together. it’s basically a mini movie, i wish they had been aired back to back.
i can’t wait for the season to come out on DVD, i’m really looking forward to all the extras and commentaries.
all in all, it was a fantastic end to a great season. can’t wait to see what they do in the third.
